Ciarán Ahern (born September 1984) is an Irish Labour Party politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-West constituency since the 2024 general election.[2] [3]

Ahern was a member of South Dublin County Council from June to November 2024 for the RathfarnhamTempleogue area.[4] [1] He has worked and lectured in law. He was an unsuccessful candidate at the 2020 general election for Dublin South-West.

Early life and education

[edit ]

Ahern grew up in Rathfarnham with his two brothers.[1] He attended Coláiste Éanna. He went on to graduate with a double Bachelor of Law and Business from University College Dublin in 2007 and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Policy, Human Rights, Criminology, and Corporate Crime from the London School of Economics Law School in 2009.[5]

Personal life

[edit ]

Ahern married fellow lawyer Maeve O'Rourke in January 2020.[6] [7] Ahern had to postpone their honeymoon in order to stand as a Labour candidate at the 2020 general election, which took place that February.[8] The couple have a son together.[1]
