The 7th Infantry Division is a formation of the Bangladesh Army. Headquartered in Patuakhali, 7th infantry division was inaugurated as part of the Forces Goal 2030.
History
[edit ]Due to no bordering regions align Barisal Division, the 7th Infantry division was ameliorated on the basis of civics and military logistics. Barisal is one of the most cyclone and flash flood prone area of Bangladesh and had to rely on the logistics area and the 55th infantry division. This division is established as first responders of major disasters and also to ensure military confinement in the country's southern area.[1]
On 14 November 2017, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved the project[2] and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Lebukhali Cantonment and hoisted the flag of the 7th Infantry Division headquarters on 8 February 2018. The project will have an estimated cost of 16ドル million as part of Forces Goal 2030 budget.[2] [3] [4]
Formation
[edit ]A total of 15,512 posts and 33 military units will be created in 11 phases under the new infantry division. Current General Officer Commanding of the division is Major General Abdul Qayoom Mollah, ndc, psc. Currently there are only 11 units under this division.[5] Under the division, there is two infantry brigades, one artillery brigade, and one armoured regiment.
