Regarding VulcanWikiEdit/sandbox/operator page

[edit source ]
Latest comment: 2 months ago 4 comments3 people in discussion

Some time ago, I moved it to your userspace (with the User: title) because it had your username, but it was in the book namespace. Would this be alright if I moved that content to User:VulcanWikiEdit/sandbox/operator page and redirect VulcanWikiEdit/sandbox/operator page to the correct page? Thank you. Thanks for pointing this out @Codename Noreste! I moved the latest update to the correct namespace and created that redirect, since the non-user-space page should not exist. All the content should now be preserved in the appropriate namespace. Cheers —Kittycataclysm (discusscontribs) 01:16, 30 June 2025 (UTC) Reply
Con gusto. (no problem, thank you.) :) Codename Noreste (discusscontribs) 01:24, 30 June 2025 (UTC) Reply
oh .. i wonder how i managed to create my Work In Progress page into an improper namespace .. which concept i understand but in the WikiBooks context i know nothing of.
thanks to both of you for sorting this for me

limited enhancement of center parameter where applicable

I would like to align the use of the center params that some object modules have.

Where the existing param means "center on the Origin of the X-Y plane" i would like to add param centerxy, default false to draw primitive in first quadrant, or true to draw with bounding box centered on origin 0,0

Where the existing param means "center on the z=0 on the Z axis" i would like to add param centerz, default false to draw on the X-Y place, or true to draw centered vertically.

I would also like all primitives to have both of these so that the user can center both ways.

The basis of centering should always be the bounding box as that is based on the mathematical (or theoretical) shape of the object and not have anything to do with how it is displayed (skipping how polygons would be centered and related issues)

eventually i would like to have an operator module center(cx,cy,cz, by) that would cause the following object module to be centered by its bounding box, center of mass, or . other interesting references to center against .. but that would be for another discussion. Centering is useful, but so is justifying on the negative side of the axis. Any general scheme should include all three variants, on each axis: negative, center, positive. Jordan Brown (discusscontribs) 16:54, 20 July 2025 (UTC) Reply
And maybe, but only maybe, intermediate values: "position the object so that the origin is at 1/3 of its X length". Jordan Brown (discusscontribs) 16:55, 20 July 2025 (UTC) Reply
IMHO better to do this by use of a clever function() that takes the justification arguments and creates a vector [x,y,z] that you give to a normal translate

what do you mean by justify specifically? elsewhere i see that your customized scad uses -1,0,+1 ..
so (along x axis) using -1 == "left justify" and means "put the left edge of the object against the X axis" etc ?

Your edits appear to have broken Template:NOTE. See for example US History/Civil War. The note no longer appears in a highlighted box. 176.235.182.90 (discuss) 15:30, 27 August 2025 (UTC) Reply

as far as i know there never was a box around a NOTE .. i will check the history VulcanWikiEdit (discusscontribs) 00:04, 29 August 2025 (UTC) Reply
but having another look at it .. there was a boundary before i created the docs page. I thot it was part of the documentation, not the actual template. i will see if i can put the border back in VulcanWikiEdit (discusscontribs) 00:15, 29 August 2025 (UTC) Reply
does this look better?

Note:
a short note

Looks good. I have to wonder though what else your edits might have disturbed. Given the number of edits you made to such pages. 176.235.182.90 (discuss) 15:40, 29 August 2025 (UTC) Reply
the multiple edits was me exploring the details of making a template .. the syntax is tricky so trial and error was the way i figured out how to fix the NOTE. When I went to use it i tried it with my ID to "sign" my notes, but i got error messages about the 2nd parameter not being defined. When i looked inside the template i saw that the signature was not included in the template's definition .. the 2nd param was documented but not implemented .. so i added it VulcanWikiEdit (discusscontribs) 20:33, 29 August 2025 (UTC) Reply
