End User License Agreement (EULA)

Overview

This End User License Agreement (“EULA”) is a legal agreement between DualType (“we,” “us”) and you (“Licensee”).

By purchasing, downloading, installing, embedding, or using any DualType font software (the “Fonts”), you agree to the terms of this EULA.

Your purchase includes an Order (your checkout receipt or invoice). If anything in this EULA conflicts with your Order, the Order always controls—especially for quantities and usage limits (like Seats, Monthly Pageviews, and App Titles). Your mandatory consumer rights still apply.

This EULA does not include licenses for broadcasting, cinema, or other audiovisual distribution beyond standard desktop, web, or app use. If your intended use is not covered by the licenses described here, or if you’re unsure whether your project fits within them, please contact us at yvprafvat@qhnyglcr.qrfvtangised.epytlaud@gnisnecil —we’re happy to help you choose the right license or arrange a custom license when needed.

In short:

  • You’re licensing font software—not buying it outright.
  • Don’t share, resell, sublicense, or post the font files for others to download.
  • Your Order defines your limits, depending on the license (Seats/Users, Monthly Pageviews, and/or App Titles).
  • With a Desktop License, you can create print and digital work, including images, PDFs, videos, and outlined artwork.
  • Web and App use require specific licenses (self-hosting for web; embedding for apps or games).
  • Non-Commercial licenses are for personal, educational, or community use only—no revenue, advertising, or client work.
  • Trial licenses are for internal evaluation only—no public use, publishing, or client delivery.
  • If your project exceeds your licensed limits, upgrading your license is the right path.

A license is simply permission to use the Fonts in specific ways. Most customers will be covered by one of the standard licenses below (Desktop, Web, or App).

License basics

Definitions

Fonts
DualType font software files, including OTF, TTF, WOFF, WOFF2, variable fonts, instances, and updates.
Order
Your receipt, invoice, or checkout summary. It forms part of this EULA and lists your license type(s), usage limits (“Order Caps”), app titles, and any add-ons. Think of the Order as the “settings” for your license.
Order Caps
The numerical limits in your Order, such as Seats/Users (Desktop), Monthly Pageviews (MPV) (Web), and the number of licensed App Titles (App).
Seat / User
One individual person authorized to install and use the Fonts. Unless your Order says otherwise, each Seat may install the Fonts on up to two personal devices they use (for example, a laptop and a desktop).
Contractor
A third-party designer, developer, printer, or vendor working on your behalf. Contractors are allowed to use the Fonts only for your project, and only under the conditions described below.

License grant

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Fonts according to the license type(s) you purchased and the limits listed in your Order. All rights not explicitly granted remain with DualType.

This license lets you use the Font software. It does not transfer ownership of the Fonts to you, and it does not allow redistribution of the font files. In other words: you can use the Fonts in your work, but you can’t pass the Font files around as products or downloads.

Always allowed (all license types)

No matter which license type you purchase, the following uses are always allowed:

  • Create graphics: You can design and export images, videos, animations, and vector artwork with text (including logos, wordmarks, and other artwork). Outlining text in design apps is fine.
  • Make PDFs: You may export PDFs for print or sharing, including subset-embedded fonts, as long as the Fonts can’t be extracted by ordinary means. This covers typical PDF workflows for print and review.
  • Keep backups: One secure backup copy for your own archival purposes. (For example: a private archive drive or encrypted storage.)
  • Use variable fonts internally: You may generate static instances for your own use (for example, exporting a specific weight/width instance for internal production). Instances may not be shared or redistributed as font files.

Always not allowed (all license types)

To protect our work and keep licensing fair for everyone, the following uses are not allowed:

  • Share, sell, sublicense, rent, or post the font files for others to download.
  • Upload Fonts to public repositories or file-sharing services (including public GitHub repos or similar).
  • Modify the Fonts to create new font software or a derivative font product. (Outlining text and creating artwork is fine; reselling a modified font is not.)
  • Use the Fonts outside the scope of your purchased license (for example, embedding in an app without an App License, or webhosting without a Web License).
  • Remove metadata or bypass technical protections intended to protect the Fonts.
  • Give font files to clients as standalone deliverables. (Designing a logo or artwork for a client is fine, but the client needs their own license to use the Fonts.)

Contractors and affiliates

We know real-world projects often involve outside collaborators. Contractors may use the Fonts only to work on your project, and they must treat the Font files as temporary, project-specific tools.

  • Contractors may use the Fonts only to work on your project.
  • They must either:
    • count within your Seat/User limit, or
    • work under a written agreement requiring deletion of the Fonts after the job is finished.
  • Affiliates, subsidiaries, or related entities need their own license unless explicitly named as Licensee in the Order.

License types

The license types below describe what each license covers. Exact limits are defined by your Order. If you’re not sure which license applies to your project, contact us—we’ll help you choose the right one.

Desktop License

What it’s for: Installing Fonts on computers for design and production work. This is the right license for most branding, editorial, packaging, and print workflows.

You may:

  • Install the Fonts for up to the number of Seats in your Order.
  • Each licensed person may install on up to two personal devices they use.
  • Use the Fonts for print, branding, packaging, social media, advertising, broadcast graphics, and PDFs.
  • Send outlined artwork or PDFs to printers and vendors. (Vendors do not receive the Font files unless they are licensed Seats or Contractors under this EULA.)

Not included:

  • Website embedding (use a Web License)
  • App or game embedding (use an App License)
  • eBooks / eReaders
  • Server-side rendering or server-based design tools
  • Templates, themes, or tools for redistribution

Web License

What it’s for: Using Fonts on websites via self-hosting (WOFF/WOFF2). This license is measured by Monthly Pageviews (MPV).

Scope:

  • You may self-host the Fonts (WOFF/WOFF2) on websites you own or control.
  • Your license allows usage up to the total Monthly Pageviews (MPV) specified in your Order, aggregated across all websites using the Fonts.

What counts as a “pageview”? A pageview generally means one load of a page that uses the Fonts. We use MPV because it’s common, predictable, and scalable for websites of different sizes.

You may:

  • Use @font-face to embed the Fonts on your own servers or CDN.
  • Use the Fonts on public-facing websites, landing pages, and marketing sites.

You must:

  • Take reasonable technical steps to prevent public download, redistribution, or hotlinking of the font files. (For example: avoid exposing direct file URLs unnecessarily, and use typical hotlink protection where available.)

Not allowed:

  • Provide the Fonts as part of a service, platform, or tool for third parties.
  • Expose direct download links to the font files via CSS, JS, or APIs.
  • Use the Fonts in a way that allows others to extract or reuse them.

If your total Monthly Pageviews exceed your licensed MPV tier, please upgrade your license. We don’t “punish” growth—upgrading is simply how you keep coverage aligned with real usage.

App License

What it’s for: Embedding Fonts in software applications or games. This license is measured by the number of App Titles.

Scope:

  • You may embed the Fonts in the number of app title(s) listed in your Order (“App Titles”).
  • Each distinct app counts as one App Title. Platform variants (such as iOS and Android) count as separate App Titles unless stated otherwise in your Order.

Why App Titles? App distribution is different from print or web: font files ship inside a product. App Titles keeps licensing clear and predictable, regardless of how many downloads your app receives.

You may:

  • Embed the Fonts inside the licensed App Titles.
  • Distribute the apps through public or private app stores.
  • Use the Fonts as part of the app’s interface, content, or branding.

You must:

  • Bundle Fonts only inside the app.
  • Use reasonable technical measures to prevent extraction of the Fonts.

Not allowed:

  • Use the Fonts in additional apps not listed in your Order.
  • Distribute the Fonts as standalone files, SDKs, templates, or tools.
  • Allow third parties to extract or reuse the Fonts outside the app.
  • Serve the Fonts from a server for use by other applications or services.

Non-Commercial License

Who it’s for: Personal, educational, or community use with no commercial activity. This option exists to support learning, experimenting, and community work.

Not allowed:

  • Client work
  • Advertising
  • Revenue-generating projects

If a project becomes commercial, please upgrade to the proper Desktop, Web, or App license before publishing.

Trial License

What it’s for: Internal evaluation before purchase. Trials are meant for testing fit, reviewing style, and trying your workflow before committing.

Limits:

  • No public use.
  • No client delivery.
  • No social media, ads, websites, apps, or final logos.
  • No distribution outside your team.

Trial access may be time-limited, and we may disable trial files after the evaluation period. If you need extra time for review, please contact us.

Policies

Growth, overages, and upgrades

If you exceed your Order Caps (Seats/Users, MPV, or number of App Titles), please upgrade within a reasonable time. We don’t penalize growth—upgrades are simple and forward-looking.

If you’re unsure whether you’ve exceeded a cap, reach out. In most cases, a quick note plus a plan to upgrade is all that’s needed.

Ownership

All Fonts remain the intellectual property of DualType. You’re licensing software—not purchasing the typeface design itself.

Updates and support

We may provide updates or fixes at our discretion. Compatibility with all systems can’t be guaranteed indefinitely, but we aim to keep Fonts usable and to maintain professional-quality releases.
