Darwin

Darwin is the main protagonist of the 2009 film G-Force . A snarky and no-nonsense crested guinea pig, he is the squad leader of the unit team of trained secret agent animals, G-Force. When the program is shut down by the FBI for failing a mission, Darwin escapes to a pet store and meets Hurley, who is revealed to be the younger long lost brother. After breaking out the pet store, Darwin and his team must stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world.

Personality[ ]

Darwin is shown adorable, brave, and loyal. At the pet shop, an old man commented on Darwin that he was "full of life." Even after Ben told Darwin that his family had abandoned him because he was "the runt of the litter", Darwin still believed that he, Blaster, and Juarez were more than just "balls of fur waiting for their next pellet". It is revealed that Darwin is good at riding a motorcycle from a video game he was playing. Nobody really knows if Darwin is interested in Juarez. Often at times, it is shown that Blaster can sometimes get jealous of Darwin.

Darwin is a brown male guinea pig with white fur from the top of his forehead all the way down to his belly. He is mainly the top guinea pig of Juarez, Blaster, and Rookie, also known as Hurley.

Before the events of the film, Darwin was abandoned by his parents because of the runt of the litter. When Dr. Ben Kendall, the scientist and the director of the program, adopted Darwin at the pet store, he, along with Blaster and Juarez were told they were genetically enhanced animals and trained as FBI agents. Together, they became a specialized unit of the team, G-Force, under the FBI.

In the present, Ben secretly informs Darwin at night that a special government program is facing abolition from the FBI the following day. To save the program, Ben orders an unauthorized mission for Darwin, Juarez, and Buster, as well as Speckles and Mooch, to infiltrate the house of billionaire technology magnate, Leonard Saber, who is under investigation by the FBI, and acquiring information about a new microchip he has developed. Darwin finds a classified file titled Clusterstorm on Saber's personal computer, containing plans for global extermination, and downloads it to his PDA. The next day, however, during a briefing with the FBI, the file turns out to be false by showing the blueprints of the Saberling espresso machine, which angers Ben's superior, Agent Kip Killian, who shuts down the program. Upon ordering the animals' capture, Darwin, Blaster, Juarez, and Speckles escape the building via pneumatic transport tubes, with the help of Marcie, and hide in a delivery truck which goes to a pet store where they are mistaken for ordinary rodents and are locked up in a cage.

At a pet store, Darwin, Juarez, Blaster and Speckles meet Hurley, another guinea pig, Bucky, a cocky hamster, and three mice. They unsuccessfully tried to break up the cage. Mooch fortunately followed them and Darwin orders him to find Ben, to tell him where they are, and to warns him that there is only 29 hours left until project Clusterstorm is activated. To finish the mission, each of them forms an escaping plan. Juarez and Blaster get themselves sold to a family, while Speckles pretends to be dead to get buried, but is thrown into a garbage truck instead, seemingly crushed to death. Hurley's becomes convinced that Darwin is his long-lost brother due to their birthmark, much to his horror. At night, Darwin hears a noise and checks it out. Realizing Bucky has a secret door in his little hut and has been using it to sneak out food at night, Darwin is angered that Bucky did not tell him about the exit, especially because it could have prevented Speckles from being seemingly killed in a garbage truck. Darwin prepares to leave, and while Hurley gives him an awkward, tearful goodbye hug and says that he will miss Darwin, Bucky pushes him into the hole and now he has no choice but to follow Darwin.

After leaving a pet store, Darwin and Hurley are searching on their way to Ben's house, but end up in front of bakery. Darwin spots the same Saberling espresso machine that he saw on the file earlier and decides to goes in to investigate. Digging through the machine, he finds a military grade transmitter chip normally used in unmanned aerial vehicles, not household appliances. He tries to remove the chip and take it back for evidence but this causes the espresso machine to transform into a killing machine (kind of like Transformers), armed with spinning blades and some kind of plasma gun. Nevertheless, both manage to destroy it. Once everyone (except Speakles) gathers back at Ben's lab, Ben finally reveals to the team that neither of them were genetically engineered as they believed to. They are regular animals who were rescued from various places, and Darwin himself was bought from a pet shop just like Hurley told him earlier. Darwin comes around and decides to finish the mission and bring Saber to justice. However, since their last lab was closed down by the FBI and their gear confiscated, they have no equipment for this mission. Fortunately, Ben reveals that he has been secretly working on a prototype transport hamster ball styled vehicle called the RDV (Rapid Deployment Vehicle) and has spare equipment they can use. Unfortunately, the FBI agents are ordered by Killian to capture the animals dead or alive. Outside, the FBI are still banging on the door when there is a loud crash and the G-Force ball cycle goes flying through the window, followed by the chase scene, which ends with guinea pigs escaping.

Later on, they go to Saber's mansion at evening, deciding to use the infected PDA to shut down the microchips. In Saber's mansion, Darwin, Blaster, and Juarez head down towards the main computer to disable Clusterstorm, and Hurley (who has tagged along) is instructed to stay put and watch their exit. After that, Darwin, Blaster, and Juarez infiltrate the network room with the master computer, but spots a trap, a trip wire connected to a bomb. The team successfully avoid it, but the killer microwave with Hurley inside stomps in, trying to kill the guinea pigs. Darwin goes to save Hurley and toss him out, but Blaster's cable snaps and the machine falls onto the wire, resulting in an explosion which separates Blaster and Juarez from Darwin. Darwin sets off on his own to complete the mission while the others attempt to stop the other machines from killing everything in site.

Darwin finally reaches the main computer to find Speckles alive, who reveals himself to be Mr. Yanshu, the mastermind behind Clusterstorm (Yanshu means "mole" in Chinese), via manipulating Leonard Saber. Darwin is relieved and thinks that Speckles has come to disable project Clusterstorm, but Speckles reveals that it was he who started the whole thing as he elaborates his plan to use the Saberling products for a bombardment of space debris to make Earth's surface uninhabitable, therefore destroying humanity as revenge for killing his family. Speckles also revealed that he staged the false file during the team's briefing with the FBI to keep his scheme from light. Darwin falls from above, losing the PDA in the process, but he is saved by Hurley who uses his weight to lift Darwin up to the robot.

Darwin tries to plead with Speckles to change his ways, reminding him of how Ben took them in and made them a real family. Finally realizing what he is doing, Speckles tries to shut down the machine but fails. Mooch recovers the PDA and Darwin uploads the virus to the main server, destroying the robot and deactivating all Clusterstorm machines that tried to kill all appliance owners. As Darwin and Speckles fall, Juarez save them from falling. As everything calms down, they later find Hurley under the ruins, injured and unconscious. Finally acknowledging him as his brother, Darwin states that Hurley's actions were truly heroic. Hurley regains consciousness and ultimately becomes a member of the team.

Some time later, G-Force receives personal recognition from the FBI Director, who tells them that Saber had been assigned to recall all his products, while Speckles is given the duty of removing the microchips before rejoining the team. The team is made official with Darwin, Blaster, Juarez, and Hurley becoming official FBI Special Agents, even Hurley, who gets a rookie badge.

Disney Heroes: Battle Mode [ ]

Darwin is a playable character in Disney Heroes: Battle Mode . Introduced in Update 7.7., Darwin is a Front-Line Tank role hero on the Yellow Team. Darwin's skills are: "Tire Takedown", "Shock Sphere", "Honor Rise", "Tactical Line", and "Torchy Touch".

• "Tire Takedown": Darwin rolls inside a car tire towards the enemy team, dealing Normal Damage and Distracting the enemy team for the next few seconds.
• "Shock Sphere": Darwin piloting his sphere goes toward enemies, releasing sparks and damaging all enemies for Normal Damage and becoming Energized until Darwin uses "Tire Takedown" again. Units Energized by this Skill gain bonus Energy per Basic Attack.
• "Honor Rise": Darwin raises his agent badge encouraging his companions, removing all Decay and Fatigue stacks from himself and gaining stacks of Hardy. For the next few seconds Darwin increases his allies Skill Power and Basic Damage for each Hardy stack that Darwin has.
• "Tactical Line": Every time Darwin blocks a disable due to his Immunity he gains Hardy stacks. Every few seconds, Darwin Distracts random enemies which aren’t already Distracted. Additionally they lose Basic Damage and Skill Power.
• "Torchy Touch": Enemies Distracted by Darwin take a percent of Increased Damage. Allies take a percent less Damage from enemies Distracted by Darwin. Darwin deals True Damage for every Hardy stack spent or removed to the respective enemy Hero. While Energized Darwin’s Attack and Movement Speed cannot fall below a certain percent.

Darwin has friendship campaigns with Gadget Hackwrench and Basil of Baker Street.

It was revealed that he is responsible for sabotaging Dr. Calico's movie set during the trial Glitch Take.

Trivia[ ]

• Throughout the movie, Hurley calls Darwin his brother and Darwin tells him not to. However, at end of G-Force, Darwin finally calls Hurley his brother in return.
