Wiki (from the Hawaiian wiki-wiki quick-quick)[1] is an Internet technology intended for the development of sites that invite non-technical users to contribute. Wikis allow most or all pages to be edited by online contributers,[2] making them more collaborative than standard websites and more versatile than forums. The vast majority of Wiki sites are those run using the MediaWiki software package licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The purpose of most wiki sites is to provide a forum for collaborative work where users are able to contribute information or knowledge freely. Many wiki sites are encyclopedias like the CreationWiki. The most well-known and popular wiki is Wikipedia.
