Saint Andrew (Greek: Ανδρέας, Andreas; "Name means::manly"[note 1] ) was a disciple of Jesus, a Christian Apostle, and younger brother of Saint Peter. In the Orthodox tradition he is called Prōtoklētos, or the First-called. The name "Andrew" like many other Greek names, appears to have been common among the Jews, Christians, and other Hellenized peoples of the palestine region.

Notes

  1. The name Ανδρέας means manly, brave, from ἀνδρεία, Andreia, "manhood, valour"
