Admin Code of Conduct - Workshops Update
Hello all!
Earlier this year, we introduced the Admin Code of Conduct, an admin-focused policy to help make sure communities stay welcoming, respectful, and fair for everyone. Since then, we’ve been getting deeper into the policy with our Fandom Stars, holding special workshops back in June where we talked through the details, explained the "why" behind some of the trickier parts, & answered their questions. The conversations were great, & the feedback was incredibly helpful. (Thank you for your help, Stars!!)
Now we’re opening the workshops up to everyone!
We’ll be hosting two public workshops in the Fandom Discord:
- Tuesday, September 2 at 10 AM (Central Time)
- Thursday, September 4 at 2 PM (Central Time)
Note: I am scheduling the workshops for a...
Technical Updates: August 22, 2025
Eyo, my lovely people! Welcome to the second tech blog of August during which I'll give you all an overview of a selection of the user-facing bug tickets, platform changes, and other relevant user notes of the past two weeks. If there are specific things you'd like to receive an update on or have something to report yourself, please leave us a comment so we may investigate and let you know!
- It is no longer possible to add additional text to the body parameter when creating a poll on Discussions, bypassing content type limits.
- Tables using
panel aims to provide readers with suggestions on the next page to read. However, sometimes no widgets will be available on low traffic wikis, and the drawer just appears empty and gives the impression of b...
gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 - Biggest Reveals and Highlights
Hello there! Some of you may know me from being around your wikis, but for those that don't, I'm Lucas, a Community Manager for gaming wikis at Fandom. I've been around wikis in myriad ways for many years, but I believe this is my first ever staff blog here at Community Central. There's a first time for everything!
gamescom, the biggest gaming event of the year, has been taking place this week, and its Opening Night Live was filled with game announcements and brand new trailers for quite a few upcoming projects.
Since we have many lovely video game wikis out there covering these topics, I'm absolutely going to take the opportunity to share them here. If you know of any others or want to share any of our own top moments from the showcase, fee...

Andrea Gibson and the Fandom of Feeling
Today, we mourn the loss of Andrea Gibson, a spoken word poet, laureate of Colorado, LGBTQ+ advocate, and voice for mental health, who passed away at 49 on July 14, 2025. The world already feels quieter without them. Even if you don’t know Gibson’s name, if you’ve ever loved a character for being broken, soft, loud, or queer in ways that the world doesn’t accept, you’ve heard their voice.

At its core, poetry is fandom. It's about the lines that stick with you, the ones you keep returning to. Andrea Gibson isn’t just a poet you read; they are a poet you feel.
Fans often connect with stories like Andrea's, which explore trauma, healing, love, queerness, and...
Supporting Global Fandoms: Our Translation Pilot
Hi everyone,
We recently shared a Staff Blog post announcing a pilot program to test LLM-assisted translations on a small number of wikis, which has understandably caused a lot of confusion and concerns. The communication wasn’t as clear as we hoped, so we want to correct that.
First off, we believe in "enablement not replacement" with AI and in no way do we intend to replace editors with AI tools. We hope the tools and features we create for you are useful in helping you build out your pages and communities, and our goal is to expand the online communities you work so hard on. The idea is to make it easier for international editors to contribute to wikis in their own language, especially in cases where starting from zero can feel overwhelmin...
