void-dots

Personal dotfiles for a Void Linux / Wayland setup.

STACK

  • wm: mango
  • term: kitty
  • sh: zsh
  • mplexer: tmux
  • launcher: rofi
  • notif: dunst

STRUCTURE

I value a clean and organized userspace, modeled after BSD.

.config/ Application configs
.fonts/ Preferred fonts
.icons/ Icon themes (Buuf archive)
.local/bin/ Scripts and utilities
.local/lib/ Shared bash libraries
.local/share/ User data files

USAGE

My workflow is to clone this repo somewhere, then use symlinks in my home and dot folders pointing at the appropriate files.

SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED

Some toolchains need a one-time bootstrap before first use.

  • .local/share/whisper/setup.sh builds the faster-whisper venv used by dictate (VTT/PTT).
  • .local/share/kokoro/setup.sh builds the kokoro venv used by speak (TTS).

IMPORTANT

Many of the files in /etc/* contain templating placeholders, that are filled in when using the install.sh script. This script is included for my convenience when setting up a fresh Void install, not necessarily yours. The files in /etc/* are security hardened, so you may be interested in referencing them, but don't expect to be able to cut/paste them without making sure a @@TEMPLATE_VALUE@@ or three don't need replaced with your own values.

BUUF IT UP

I've included my favorite Buff icon collection and cursor collection. At the time of writing this, you could obviously just go download them from those link, but I like the security of having an archive.
