Requesting that links to supported user profiles or status updates / posts open within the app rather than opening in a browser.

It already works like this unfortunately, recent Android releases ignore that.

Strange because I have the same problem. But supported links are correctly openend with New Pipe.
When I go see app authorisations, New Pipe has several authorized links and Fedilab none.

Maybe comparing how the 2 apps handle this would help ?
