To reproduce:
- Create an org without an alert email
- Create a recurring shift.
- Create a volunteer and add them to the 2nd occurrence of the shift, and save "this event".
- Add the volunteer to the first occurrence of the shift, and save "this and following events"
=> Expected Result: Successfully saves & a reminder to add an email to receive alerts.
=> Actual Result: Ugly rails server error and nothing is saved.
