When installing firefox from the official Arch repos ffmpeg4.4 is the actual dependency needed by firefox in order to be able to play H264/HEVC/AAC encoded videos, installing the latest version of ffmpeg instead will just break video playback leading to MIME format errors.

You have only edited PKGBUILD. AUR/librewolf/PKGBUILD and AUR/librewolf-bin/PKGBUILD have the same problem. Could you update those too?

Thank you for the fast merge! I ran into the same issue before lone cloud did in his comment on the AUR and I took his suggestion to open a pull request on codeberg.

Update: Firefox 146 now supports the latest FFmpeg on Linux, as confirmed by the official Arch Linux Firefox package:

https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/firefox/

Given this upstream change, the previously required PKGBUILD modifications are no longer necessary and can be safely reverted for now.
