vgsh - the very gender shell

A convenient Lua-based alternative to POSIX shell.

Features

  • Small (kilobytes, not megabytes!)
  • The full power of lua, not some shonky shit from the early days of UNIX.
  • Full async support including I/O.
  • More powerful process handling.
  • Convenient builtins for shell idioms.

There are two modes of operation:

  • Script mode (broken)
  • Repl mode (forthcoming)

Find seems to be a rich target for a nice api
