common-network-index

BeaconDB's Common Network Index is a crowd-sourced dataset of common WiFi SSIDs.

  • data/optout.txt: keywords used to filter networks that should not be recorded for privacy reasons. For example:
    • explicit opt-out: FBI Surveillance Van_nomap
    • mobile phone hotspots: Tim's iPhone, Pixel_1234
    • car hotspots: CarPlay_1234, AndroidAuto_1a2b
    • dashcams: BlackVue970X-1A2BC3, MiDashCam1s_v2_1a2b
  • data/moving-local.txt: network names that are known to move, usually free WiFi on public transportation
    • airplanes: DeltaWiFi.com, Qantas Entertainment
    • trains: Wifi in de trein, EurostarTrainsWiFi
    • buses: FlixBus Wi-Fi, omnibus.com
    • ferries: Tallink Silja Line, SEALINKFREEWIFI-FERRY
