Hello everyone!
Better late than never - this issue is dedicated to refine Logo-Finalist 6 - "CM-Compass-Split" from this issue: #78
drawing

The goal here is:

• to collect feedback
• iterate on refinement ideas
• maye play with color-versions (as an addition to the monochrome main logo)

Feel free to come up with your own versions/refinements - I would love to see them! ❤️
All the "iterations" I post here are just ideas it does not mean, that I prefer them over the "original" version :)

With an arrow it looks better because the arrow has a higher visual weight which is more balanced with the weights of the C and M. Whereas the compass needle looks much smaller and disproportionate.

Based on your feedback and the likes I created a subtle color version of Iteration 5:

• I added a slight color variation to the m (based on the CoMaps Color Scheme)
• I made the arrow a little bit smaller

Feel free to share your feedback until tomorrow and I will try to create a "final" refined Version tomorrow in the evening.
My current state of mind leans towards using either:

• Iteration 4.1 (with the wider needle)
• Iteration 5.1 (with the smaller arrow)

Here I also do kind of like the two-tone-color-versions - What do you think?

I love this one. Compared to the arrow, I feel like it is nice that the needle is less wide, as in the arrow case it feels a bit too full and my eyes don't know what to look at.
And on top of that I could imagine a nice rotating animation with the needle :-)

Really cool! I love it - thank you for creating and sharing the animation! 😍

The animation also showed me that I have to clean up the needle - currently it is not perfectly symmetrical - I probably rushed something when creating the wider version of it ^^

One thing I liked about the original version and that still is missing in the drafts is that the corners were slightly rounded. Are those round corners now gone on purpose or is that just something for the last refinement step?

I just haven't thought about adding them 😄I can try to create some versions with more rounded corners, so we can find out what we like!

• it includes the "C", the "O" and the "M" (very subtle) from CoMaps
• it has a Pin-Shape which communicates Maps/Navigation to me + in the colored versions, the colored part looks like a simplistic North-Arrow (maybe a reach^^)
• you can see a very stylistic human figure in there (more pronounced here), which could communicate the "Community-Aspect"
• should look good in pretty much all sizes/colors/situations :)
• I think this shape is pretty unique
• it is even more compact than Fav-1/2

Okay here we go ### My Fav-6: CoM-Pin (Minimal-Version) This one (like Fav3) differs a bit more from the original concept, but I personally really like it 👀 **Monochrome:** <img src="/attachments/66c8b955-56ce-43be-9334-b51ac8d62a6a" alt="drawing" width="200"/> **Half-Colored:** <img src="/attachments/be911dc3-c35f-4fd7-8693-f2de8fc1ebcb" alt="drawing" width="200"/> **Full-Colored:** <img src="/attachments/cda18fcd-9698-48d9-b8c8-f74fba1731d2" alt="drawing" width="200"/> **What I personally like:** - it is really simple/clean (even a bit cleaner than Fav3-5) - the most "minimal" out of them - it includes the "C", the "O" and the "M" (very subtle) from CoMaps - it has a Pin-Shape which communicates Maps/Navigation to me + in the colored versions, the colored part looks like a simplistic North-Arrow (maybe a reach^^) - you can see a very stylistic human figure in there (more pronounced here), which could communicate the "Community-Aspect" - should look good in pretty much all sizes/colors/situations :) - I think this shape is pretty unique - it is even more compact than Fav-1/2 **I also created some MockUps:** Monochrome | Android-Circle | Android-Squircle | iPhone/Web | |-----------|-----------|-----------| |  |  |  | Half-Colored | Android-Circle | Android-Squircle | iPhone/Web | |-----------|-----------|-----------| |  |  |  | Full-Colored | Android-Circle | Android-Squircle | iPhone/Web | |-----------|-----------|-----------| |  |  |  |

I think this one is still better, because the compass in the middle doesn't fit the Design that well compared to the navigation arrow.

We need to finalize the criteria for the vote.

Since the focus right now is on the GA release, the logo voting will be postponed for now, which will give more time for work to continue on variations and finalization, without a really short time constraint.

What I personally like:

• it is relatively simple/clean
• it includes the "C" and the "M" from CoMaps
• it has a Navigation Arrow which communicates Maps/Navigation to me
• should look good in most sizes/colors/situations :)
• I think this shape is relatively unique - it kind of reminds me of an "Alpha" (or a fish)

About Fav-4. I like it a lot, i don't like the variant containing yellow, only white is good.

About Fav-5. Again I don't like the yellow and here I feel like the circle is too big. It looks too "full" in the icon. Maybe with smaller circle it would be better?

I had a really tough time deciding which one to submit, but based on the 👍 and the feedback here I had to choose between Fav 4 and Fav 7. I decided to submit Fav 4 in the end, because it seemed to get a bit more attention in this issue + I personally prefer it a bit. I once again hope that this is alright for everyone involved ❤️
