Currently, there is a "default" tree species that doesn't have any qualifier in its name. It's just "Sapling", "Tree", "Leaves", etc. On the other hand, we have "Birch Sapling", "Birch Tree", "Birch Leaves".

So the "default" tree should become a more concrete species by renaming it.
