Zed went the way of removing it, because they believe it should be stored in a database instead of a config file: https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/54511#issue-4309927605

As-is, it doesn't actually affect the UI, just the name reported to the OS or something.

It's one of those things that only makes sense because Zed is a video conference system as well.. I'll remove it, thanks for pointing it out :)

I don't follow at all. What does wanting to customize the name of my project windows have to do with video conferencing? This is a feature that I wished was actually functional.

Maybe I just don't understand the purpose of the feature. How would you use it?

The name of a project's folder is not always an ideal name for the project itself, usually because critical context is in the rest of the path.

For example, I have a ~/cports-worktrees/gram folder, which is where I work on the Chimera Linux cports package for Gram. I'd prefer the project name displayed at (for example) the top of the window to be something like "Gram cports package" instead of just "gram". Worse, I also have the Gram repository itself checked out, which leaves me with two separate projects named "gram", one of which contains the actual source code, and the other of which contains data for packaging.

I see, that does makes sense. I’ll have a look at actually making this work.
