Bug Description
bzr2245
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller
1. login to unity start an application and maximize it
2. open the Dash
Now you can neither start any application nor will any menu open on the panel. the dash would just blink and the launcher tooltips dont redraw.
This started with bzr2237 before that Unity would just crash on this GPU when BFB was clicked. progress ;-)

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G71 [GeForce Go 7900 GS] (rev a1)
The issue given by commit rev 2237 was different (with a maximized application):
- the whole screen would turn black (I can sometimes see artifacts of the maximized windows), but globally, everything black apart from the launcher and the panel.
Reverting the commit fixed it.
bzr 2237 did not cause this problem. This issue is causes by other factors.
as I said "before that Unity would just crash on this GPU when BFB was clicked."
see bug 975291 for the crash.
The branch linked above will address the usability issue when opening the dash on system that have no glsl support.
There remain an issue with the dash/launcher blur effect that needs to be addressed.
This bug was fixed in the package unity - 5.10.0-0ubuntu3
