It is conceived of as a certain
undemonstrable force, a Familiar or Genius, by whose impulses the man is guided but whose counsels he cannot impart; which is company for him, so that such men are often solitary, or if they chance to be social, do not need society but can entertain themselves very well alone.
"the eternal light of Siger, who, instructing in the Street of Straw, demonstrated enviable truths." The word that the Hollanders translate as enviable is invidiosi, which derives etymologically from the unseen or the
undemonstrable, as the Yale scholar Giuseppe Mazzotta notes in Reading Dante (2013).
As Bowers notes, "The case is
undemonstrable, but at least some possibility exists that Whipple could have suggested the need for a different ending from Coverdale's reflections at Zenobias graveside" (lii).
Or it could be affirmed as a "persuasive desirability of speculative imagination (as persuasive and as
undemonstrable as the proposition that there being a world at all is 'better' than there being none)" (IR, 10).
This compelled him to conclude that "the self" was no more than a non-existent (or, at any rate,
undemonstrable) substrate fictively posited to give some semblance of tractable unity to a collection of more or less random perceptions:

The relationship of faith as belief that involves the acceptance of an
undemonstrable proposition that I acknowledge to be true.
When examining Taranatha's writings on the extreme later period of Buddhism, that is 16th -17th centuries, even the assumption that there existed such a thing as 'Buddhism' in India at that very late period is utterly
undemonstrable. Instead, his apparently authoritative statements about Buddhism's existence merely demonstrate the kind of wishful thinking which Taranatha engaged in when imagining India and the state of its religions.
However, any connection between PULO and the current insurgents remains
undemonstrable. In early April, Malaysia's Bernama news agency reported that secret talks were being held between representatives of the Thai government and leading figures of PULO and BRN-Coordinate (the latter often identified as the group spearheading the current violence) in Indonesia, but an RTA spokesman flatly denied this.
In short, the basis of the Chicago position, as of others, inevitably is an initial axiom which is itself an
undemonstrable article of faith.
