Carolinas Centers for Sight said partnering with Eye Health America will allow for the expansion of services in the Pee Dee Region while continuing to provide patients with high-quality, compassionate eye care.

The Medical University of South Carolina board of trustees voted Monday night to acquire four community hospitals in north-central South Carolina and the Pee Dee.

From that 150 MW, 113 MW of capacity will be reserved for customers of Duke Energy Carolinas, which primarily serves the Upstate of South Carolina, and 37 MW of capacity will be reserved for customers of Duke Energy Progress, primarily serving the Pee Dee region including Florence and Sumter counties.

Florence, a city of about 38,000 people, is in the Pee Dee region of northeastern South Carolina that was drenched by heavy rains and flooding from Hurricane Florence last month.

The deluge has made its way so slowly down the Lumber, Pee Dee and Waccamaw rivers that the state last week released detailed maps on where it expects flooding.

He is also the author of the regional outdoor adventure favorite "Down the Little Pee Dee, Paddling South Carolina's Legendary Blackwater River," plus "Alaska Highway Flight Log" and "German and Bosnian Voices in a Time of Crisis" as well as books on Alpine skiing and adventure travel.

The Little River, the Cape Fear, the Lumber, the Neuse, the Waccamaw and the Pee Dee were all projected to rise over their banks, flooding cities and towns.
