Over the past five years, we, Strategic Programs for Innovative Research Field 1 “Supercomputational Life Science (SCLS)” have endeavored to expand the scope of computational life science toward medical care and drug discovery. Using the K computer, we have integrated knowledge from dynamic multiscale life systems, consisting of the genome, molecules, cells, organs, and human body, to make substantial progress in understanding life systems.
The SCLS2015 will be held with the aim to report the present status of the paradigm shift occurring in life science led by computational science.
Day 1 of the symposium will be an International Workshop. Prominent researchers have been invited from around the world to hold discussions on current topics in the computational life science, including "Advanced MD simulations", "Applications of GROMACS", "Simulation of the basal ganglia circuit", and "Biomedical big data analysis".
Day 2 of the symposium will be a public session to report the research achievements of the SCLS. The five groups of the SCLS – "Biomolecular simulation", "Simulation for drug design", "Integrated simulation for medicine", "Large scale data analysis", and "Research system establishment" – will report the latest achievements of their research and activities in the life sciences using the K computer.

我々はこの5年間、スーパーコンピュータ「京」を活用することにより、飛躍的に進展しつつある生命科学の知見を融合し、ゲノム情報から、分子、細胞、器官、個体までの生命階層をつなぐことで、高次の生命機能を理解し、医療、創薬に活かすことを目指してチャレンジしてきました。
そこでの成果から見えてきた、計算科学からはじまる生命科学の新たなパラダイムシフトを実感していただくために、このシンポジウムを開催することと致しました。是非、ご参加ください。
1日目は、海外から著名な研究者をお招きし、この分野の最新のトピックに関するInternational Workshopを行います(英語)。
2日目は、プロジェクトの研究成果の報告会を開催します(日本語)。先進のスーパーコンピュータ「京」を活用し、取り組んできたライフサイエンス分野の4つの課題、課題1「細胞内分子ダイナミクスのシミュレーション」、課題2「創薬応用シミュレーション」、課題3「予測医療に向けた階層統合シミュレーション」、課題4「大規模生命データ解析」、そしてこの分野における計算科学推進体制の構築について、最新の成果を広く一般の方々にわかりやすく報告いたします。
