Mitchell AP (2009) Possibly essential genes; no disruptants obtained by UAU1 method using the BWP17 strain

Abstract:The A. P. Mitchell laboratory provided CGD with a list of genes in which multiple transformations using the published UAU1 method yielded no disruptants in the BWP17 strain. In each case, at least 12 independent transformants were tested, indicating that the gene may be essential. ?The inability to disrupt these genes using the UAU1 construct does not constitute definitive proof that they are essential and investigators may want to use another method to attempt disruption of these genes.
