GStarting November 10, your Google Meet in-meeting messages will be powered by and available in Google Chat. Controls for restricting conversation creation in Google Chat available to more organizations
We are expanding an existing Google Chat feature to more Workspace customers. This feature gives administrators the ability to limit who can create new conversations in Google Chat. Updated Chat header helps you navigate chat more quickly and easily
We are introducing a redesigned Google Chat conversation header on the web. The new header offers a simpler, more consistent layout that makes key tools easier to find and use. Set sharing expirations on files and folders in shared drives
We previously introduced the option to set expirations on files that reside in shared drives using the Google Drive API. Today, we are bringing the ability to set expiring access for files and folders in shared drives directly from the sharing dialog. Bringing inline threading to direct messages in Google Chat
We’re excited to announce that inline threading is rolling out for direct messages (DMs) and group direct messages (gDMs) in Google Chat. Gemini Deep Research now integrates with your Workspace content
We’re expanding the capabilities of Gemini’s Deep Research feature by integrating it with your Google Workspace apps. Use a wider range of emoji reactions in Google Meet

Gemini in Sheets can understand and analyze multiple tables within a single tab of a spreadsheet. Protecting Gmail users from XS-Search with Cross-Origin Opener Policy (COOP)
Gmail is enhancing user security by enabling the Cross-Origin Opener Policy (COOP). As a result, developers of websites and browser extensions opening or manipulating the Gmail page may have to update their code to ensure continued functionality when enforcement begins on January 20, 2026. AI credit overages admin control and related billing
We previously announced an increased credit limit of 25,000 credits per user per month for Google AI Ultra for Business users. Educators can now convert rubrics in Google Classroom from Drive or local files with help from Gemini
educators can now quickly adapt existing rubrics from Drive or local files for Google Classroom assignments with Gemini's assistance. Use emoji reactions in your client-side encrypted documents

Ask Gemini in Google Meet coming to Workspace enterprise customers

New LaTeX features in the Gemini app

Generate presentations in the Gemini app
We are introducing the ability to create slide presentations in the Gemini app through Canvas. Simply provide an idea with a simple text prompt or upload a source, and Gemini will generate a set of slides — complete with a theme and relevant images. Enhanced admin audit log events
We are updating the schema and event modeling for several Admin audit log events, specifically some of the events related to account security, Gmail, and Drive settings, along with other admin-defined setting audit logs. More powerful pivot tables in Connected Sheets
We are rolling out two significant updates to Connected Sheets pivot tables backed by BigQuery, designed to increase analytical capacity and streamline your workflow. First, we’re doubling row capacity for pivot tables backed by BigQuery in Connected Sheets, from 100,000 to 200,000 rows. Improve your writing by grounding Gemini in Google Docs in sources
We’re excited to announce source-grounded writing help in Google Docs. Google Keep reminders now saved to Tasks
As announced last year, Keep reminders will be automatically saved to Tasks. This means that now users can view their Keep reminders as tasks in Calendar, in the Tasks app, and even ask the Gemini app about them (via the Tasks extension). Use Help me schedule to easily set up a meeting time over email
Gmail with Gemini will detect when you’re trying to coordinate a time within an email and will surface a Help me schedule button in the toolbar. Earlier this year, we announced expanded access to Google Vids, bringing basic access to Google Vids to all Google Workspace for Education users. Reporting rules are now activity rules

Educators can now create and assign NotebookLM and Gems in Google Classrooms
Over the last year, we’ve brought the capabilities of Gemini to Google Classroom to support new ways of teaching and learning. A few months ago, we expanded Gemini in Classroom to help educators use AI for their common teaching tasks. Generate stories using Gemini with Read Along in Google Classroom
Starting today, educators will be able to use Gemini to create their own stories with Read Along in Classroom, in addition to the existing ability to upload their own content into Read Along as part of the assignment creation process. Configure up to 20 conditional notifications per Google Sheet
Last year we introduced conditional notifications in Google Sheets, which allow users to create custom rules in spreadsheets that send email notifications when certain criteria are met. Gems in Gemini Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI™) is now rolling out

Updates to Gmail log events
To support more granular incident investigations and to expand access to this critical security data, we’ve made a few changes to the Gmail Audit Logs. 1. Enhancing meeting privacy for copied Calendar events
When users copy or duplicate events in Calendar, the Meet conference won’t be copied over. This ensures that Meet access and meeting notes remain tied to the original event and its attendees. Seamlessly join Google Meet conferences from any calendar app
With this launch, the Google Meet link will be added to the location field when a Google Calendar user invites a user of a different calendar app (such as Microsoft Outlook) to a meeting with Google Meet. Automatically install Chat apps to your conversations

Now generally available: Convert your Client-side encrypted Google Sheets after a Vault or Takeout export
Client-side encryption supports ediscovery and data portability for our customers. After an export using Vault or the data export tool (takeout), admins can decrypt the previously client-side encrypted content. Changes to Manage Google Meet hardware and calendars privilege
To improve security and clarity, the Manage Google Meet hardware and calendars privilege will no longer grant broad access to all calendars in your organization. Currently: This privilege allows admins to assign calendars to Meet hardware devices AND grants full read/write access to all calendars in your organization. Starting October 15, 2025: This privilege will no longer grant read/write access to your organization’s Google Calendars. | Learn more about the changes to admin privileges.

Quizzes in the Gemini app are now available to under-18 users
Earlier this year, we announced the ability to generate quizzes for any subject using Canvas in the Gemini app by uploading relevant documents or simply entering a prompt like “Give me a practice quiz about the nervous system”. Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace users
At Google I/O 2025 we introduced Veo 3, our new latest video generation model that can generate video with audio. Today, Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace customers.

With Veo 3 you'll notice real-world physics and accurate lip syncing - this includes things like traffic noises in the background of a city street scene, birds singing in a park, and even dialogue between characters. We also introduced a new photo to video feature that allows you to upload a photo and create an 8-second video. You can get creative by animating everyday objects, bringing your drawings and paintings to life or adding movement to nature scenes.

There is a limit of 3 daily uses for enterprise and education users and 5 daily uses for those with the Google AI Ultra for Business add-on. When you are approaching this limit, you’ll see a warning message in the UI. Adding Google Calendar sharing to Android devices
In Google Calendar, you can share any calendar you own or have permission to share with other users and groups. This functionality is currently available on web only, and this week we’re excited to extend it to Android devices. Automatically level audio across a video in Google Vids with balance sound
In May, we preannounced the ability to easily adjust sound levels across videos in Google Vids. Starting today, users can automatically level the volume of audio and video clips in their Vids and add audio ducking to background music, which automatically lowers (or "ducks") music when another audio or video clip’s volume starts playing. | Rollout to Rapid Release domains is complete; launch to Scheduled Release domains planned for July 21, 2025. | Available to Google Workspace customers with access to Google Vids. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about controlling audio timing, balance & transitions with audio tracks.


Gemini summary cards now available in Gmail on web
In May, we introduced Gemini summary cards in Gmail on Android and iOS devices. This week, we’re excited to announce that summaries will be available on web as well, at the top of emails for messages where a summary is helpful, such as longer email threads or messages with several replies. | Rollout to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains is complete. | Available to Google Workspace Business Starter, Standard and Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus; customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on, and anyone who previously purchased a Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-on. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about collaborating with Gemini in Gmail.


Introducing a refreshed user interface in Google Drive for Desktop
In order to provide desktop users with a centralized area to easily manage all of their Drive files in one place, we’ve introduced improvements to Google Drive for desktop. A new look and feel is coming for the Workspace Updates Blog
We’re excited to share that a refreshed experience for the Workspace Updates Blog will be launching on Monday, July 14. Some of the improvements you’ll notice are:
  • A completely refreshed user interface that brings the Workspace Updates Blog inline with other official Google channels.
  • A compact layout that allows you to quickly scan multiple posts, making it easier to find the announcements that matter most to you.
  • Easier navigation with product tags neatly categorized at the top of the page, and quick links to other resources like the Release Calendar.
  • Auto translation for 100+ languages using Google translate right from the footer of the website.
These updates will also be available when viewing the Workspace Updates Blog on mobile.

Improved email notifications following Google Meet calls, plus new sharing controls for meeting hosts
We’re improving the email notification that includes the notes doc when you use “Take notes for me” in Google Meet. The email will now include a summary of the meeting as well as “suggested next steps” in addition to the link to the notes document. Manage email subscriptions from a single location in Gmail
Last year, we introduced web and mobile updates that enable you to unsubscribe from individual emails in Gmail more easily. Today, we’re building upon this with Gmail's new "Manage subscriptions" feature. | Learn more managing subscriptions.

Search for embedded content in Google Sites
Starting today, we're making it easier to find information within a Google Site. Previously, searching in a site only showed results from the text directly on the pages. Now, when you perform a search, the results will also include content from within embedded files, such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and PDFs. | Learn more about searching for embedded content in Sites.

Drive IRM Update: More Control for File Owners and Shared Drive Managers
Now, individual file owners and shared drive managers can apply printing, copying, and downloading restrictions to users with edit permissions as well. Editors and owners can still edit the document itself, however they can only copy and paste document content within the document itself. | Learn more about Drive IRM.

Introducing Lucidchart and Lucidspark apps in Google Chat
Lucidchart, an app that helps users collaborate on diagrams, such as flowcharts, wireframes, entity relationship diagrams, and more, and Lucidspark, a virtual whiteboard tool, are two third-party add-ons already available across Workspace apps, such as Docs and Meet.
