SCHOOL ATHLETICS.
MR. F. A. H. BOYNTON'S
CAREER.
A recent issue of the Melbourne
'Herald' contains a column of school
records, in a recent isue of which the
following account of Mr. F. A. H.
Boynton's career in the athletic de
partment of Wesley College, is pub
lished in detail. The Mr. Boynton
referred to is a son of Mr. T. H.
Boynton, of Balranald.
'Frank A. H. Boynton entered
Wesley College in 1898, at the age of
eleven, and has since that year become
one of the leading athletes of his school
during the successful athletic record
Wesley College has gained of late
years.
In 1898 he won the under 12 cup,
and in 1900 was champion under 14.
In 1902 he ran second in the V.AA. A.
Schools 100 Yards Championship, and
won the 220 Yards Championship.
Putting the 161b. weight is now his
forte in athletic sports, and ho was
V.A.A.A. Schools Champion in 1903
(33ft lj in.), and 1904 (33ft 7in.), and
this year he beat E. M. Rouse, the
famous East Melbourne harrier, in a
handicap weight-putting contest with
34ft 4i in., and was second to Rouse
in the championship event.
In football he has been a great
strength .to his school, and has played
for Wesley College in 1901 (premiers),
1902 (second), 1903 (champions), 1904,
(champions), and now, in '19' '5, has
been elected captain of the eighteen
for the second half in place of S. B.
Gravenall, who is over age. He won
his football colors in 1903.
In cricket he has played for his
school in 1902, 1903, 1904, 1905'.
He is a good bat and fine field, and is
a fair change bowler. He is at pre
sent vice-captain of the eleven.
He has won several swimming events
at the College sports, and is an acting
lieutenant' in the school cadet corps.
In rowing he has been in tae Head
of the River crews at Wesley in 1902,
1903, 1904. He is captain of the
Boats for 1905.
? He won his triple colors badge in
1904. He has been a prefect for 1903,
1904, and 1905. He is now eighteen
years of age. He passed matriculation
in 1903, and, finally, purposes entering
the medical profession.
