[Yaesu] Microphone question

"So far I have always used the stock hand mic with the FT100D. Are their 
other mics that increase the audio punch, making it easier to be heard 
or to break through pileups? Do desk mics usually work better? Any 
recommendations on the best mic to get increased audio punch on the FT100D?"
An interesting observation I've had...
In the pas,t I could get through on HF, as well. NOW, not a chance. My 
voice has changed, and no longer works with SSB radios. My wife can get 
right through, I hear her crystal clear talking to hams, through their 
receiver, connected back to us over the phone, I grab the mic, speak 
close, speak loud, increase power several hundred per cent, nothing 
heard on the receiving end. Haven't been able to use SSB-HF in some 15 
years because of this.
