Hi Jerry,
thank you for your answer.

It's not clear at all :
- In page 111, it says you need to connect the TRX to an external TNC
for Packet-Radio operation. This would involve using audio lines (RX,
TX, PKD)
- In page 113, there's a menu about "com port settings". Possible
choices are : "GPS OUT", "PACKET", "WAYPOINT". Using the "PACKET" value
would involve using a built-in TNC (assuming there's one).
Moreover, there's no "CAT-SYSTEM" choice. This would confirm the lack of
remote-control capability :-(

For that purpose, I do not need digital FM, nor HF. My requirements are
: VHF/UHF FM, detachable head, and computer control. And, low cost ;-)

<troll mode>
I've been playing around with computers for more than 30 years now, and
it also became my job :-) 10 years ago, when I bought a TRX, I was very
disappointed to see that it was possible to set the VFO via the
computer, but it was not possible to set the memory name. Today, 10
years later, I'm even more disappointed to see a brand new TRX with no
computer-control capabilities. In the meantime, raspberry pi and clones
are everywhere, and the industry is working hard in IoT technologies. If
some equipment manufacturer executives are reading this list, I can
offer a 20ドル tiny computer, and explain what it's possible to do with it
(touchscreens, remote-control, TCP/IP, WiFi, bluetooth, mobile apps,
WEB, Linux, Open source, etc...) so that they can build equipments for
the 21th century, HI :-)

So, my question would change to :
Does anybody know a VHF/UHF FM transceiver, with detachable head, and
full computer-control capabilities (through standard RS232, or by
"hacking" communications between the control head and the main unit) ?
