[Yaesu] Yaesu FT-3000M Receiver Performance

I'm looking for input from Yaesu FT-3000M owners on their perception of
the radio's receiver performance. I recently purchased a new Yaesu FT-3000M
and installed it in my car where I have previously used an Icom IC-2100H 2m
mobile and a Kenwood TH-G71A 2m HT. The new Yaesu appears to be exhibiting
more intermod and/or adjacent channel rejection problems than I would have
expected for a radio with its specifications (based individual and QST
reviews). At times it doesn't appear to do as well as the Kenwood TH-G71A HT
did when used in the car.
I'm experiencing situations driving through my neighborhood where the
squelch opens even though there is no signal on the frequency (sometimes I
get what sounds like a dead carrier, other times I get a bit of hash --
"reasonable" increases in squelch do not completely stop this behavior) and
other times I get garbled audio over an S-5 or so repeater I am listening
to.
I like the radio a lot, but am just trying to determine (without a lab
full of test equipment) whether this behavior is characteristic of the radio
when used in my RF environment (something I have to get use to) or whether
there may be a problem that needs to be addressed under warranty.
 73 and thanks, Michael N9BDF
