[Yaesu] FT1000D ants

The RX antenna switching is a bit confusing! With the internal
switch set to RANT, and the front panel RX ANT switch out, both
receivers use the MAIN antenna. If the front panel RX ANT switch
is IN, then both receivers use the antenna connected to the RX
ANT jack (RCA jack).
If the internal switch is set for E BPF, and the front panel switch
is OUT, both receivers recieve from the MAIN antenna. If the front
panel switch is IN, the main receiver receives from the MAIN
antenna and the sub receiver receives from the RX2 antenna jack
through the sub receivers band pass filters.
I have made a mod to my FT-1000D. I cut the coax lead from the LOW
PASS FILTER unit to the RF unit and brought it out to a pair of
RCA jacks on the rear panel. These go to my MFJ-1025 noise canceller
and to a separate RX antenna selector switch. I have the internal
switch in the E BPF position. This arrangement allows me to use the
external switch to select either the main antenna or low noise RX
antennas for both receivers and to insert the MFJ if needed. If the
front panel RX ANT switch is IN, then the subreceiver is connected
to it's own antenna through it's own antenna input, RX2. The MAIN RX,
sub RX and AUX input to the MFJ are brought out to a home made patch
panel. I feel this gives me a great deal of flexibility in antenna
selection/noise reduction.
