[LOGic] Any Ideas?

This is most likely a Windows XP issue, but since LOGic is the ONLY
application misbehaving, I thought this might resonate with someone in this
group.
I have searched the Windows KB, read and tried many, many suggestions in the
techie forums with no success so far.
I am running LOGic 8 (fully updated) on a very fast Windows XP (also fully
updated) machine. I use iolo System Shield and Personal Firewall.
About one week ago - I suspect, but am not positive, about the time the iolo
suite was automatically updated - suddenly LOGic wouldn't boot. I get the
error message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have
the appropriate permissions to access the item."
Here are the available clues:
- I am the sole user on this machine and always log on as an administrator.
- I have given LOGic full permission to bypass all firewall constraints.
- I have done a deep scan for malware.
- I have done a registry scan with several utilities. (This might appear to
be a hacked or corrupted Registry.)
- LOGic boots and functions just fine when in the Windows Safe Mode.
- One time, after a Safe Mode boot and exit, I entirely uninstalled LOGic,
then reinstalled in the C:\ drive root directory rather than in the Program
Files directory. LOGic worked just fine! One Windows power cycle later, and
I'm back to the above error message.
- With the same recent iolo update on a Vista laptop, LOGic works just fine.
I am hoping someone here will have a suggestion. If not, I will contact
iolo. I am seriously hoping to avoid uninstalling the iolo products, trying
a freebie supplied by my ISP, etc., etc.
Any help is much appreciated. If this is not fodder for this forum, please
contact me directly.
Thanks a million!
Jim, WS6X
