[Logic] Power: On or Off ?

Many networks are on 24/7 because software updates are done in the wee
hours. In the bad old days of tubes, rigs were left on because it took a
long time for them to stabilize.
There are may arguments pro and con for leaving electronic equipment on.
I use the TV method......if I'm going to the fridge, I leave it on, if I'm
going to mow the lawn I shut it off. Same with the radios and computers.
On the evenings and weekends, they stay on until bedtime or Sunday night
respectively.
If I'm leaving the house for any period of time, all electronics are turned
off. Rigs get put in transmit, components blow, I don't need to come home
to a problem.
Other considerations:
Laptops are turned off when not in actual use. They are light duty devices.
Windows machines need to be turned off to clear out memory.
With Hard drives, fans and mechanical devices (including tubes), the count
down to failure starts on the first day of use.
Lastly, running unattended electrical devices cost money and uses resources.
Before you say, but I only use X....multiply X times several million users.
If you must, send the Sheiks a check, but turn the light off........
