Hi John:
At my old QTH, I had enormous problems with 60 cycle noise on HF and at
the time, I was interested in 40 and 20 meters. It is my understanding
that typical noise blanking circuitry is most effective against random
high peak-value noise like automobile ignition noise. I never really
experienced any benefit from the rig's built in NB circuits in my
particular situation. Although it could be that I am using relatively
old
rigs: TS-430, TS-690 and TS-50.
Maybe you could try a different approach - perhaps in front of the
receiver... I did have some success with shielded loop antennas,
although
I found that transmitting through them was a different story!
