[Dxbase] RTTY/DIGITAL Alerts

My goal is have rtty/digital alerts combined like ARRL rules when looking up needed MODE slots by band, while accurately sorting in the DxBase Summary window whether it is a RTTY or DIGITAL source.
Using the DXTEST feature in VE7CC ArUser to send test spots to myself, I tried all sorts of combinations of the alerts filters and it still doesn’t see the confirmed RTTY qsos when a digital spot comes in on the same band and vice versa.
I have concluded the “MERGE RTTY/DIGITAL” option in Alerts does not work. It changes the “MERGERTTY” parameter in dxb2007.ini but it still treats DIGITAL and RTTY separately regardless of the setting for alerts.
As a workaround, I set the DIGITAL band segments in the band plan as RTTY, only because there are no digital countries that I have not worked on rtty already, so any new “"RTTY” countries (aka digital/rtty) will alert based on RTTY statistics. The downside, if any, is it thinks all spots in the actual digital segments are rtty, but I guess that is a minor thing.
Does anyone have a solution, suggestion, or different observation?
