[Dxbase] Sad News -- VE1AL - SK .. info attached

FYI to all -- I rcvd an email from Phil (VE1BVD) advising of the passing of
AL VE1AL yesterday.. I wanted to pass this info along to the DXbase users.

I don't know if you remember me, but we
 had several exchanges of email concerning problems with DXBase back in 
the early 2000's. I'm afraid I have some sad news that you may already 
have heard about Al, VE1AL.
I'm sorry to have to report that Al had a massive 
heart attack and passed away sometime yesterday afternoon. I know that 
you and he corresponded regularly about this and that, but I don't know 
how active he was on the DXBase reflector. Perhaps you could pass on 
the news to that group.
As I understand it, he was supposed to pick up his 
grand daughter after school as he usually did, and when he didn't show 
up, the school contacted his daughter to find out what had happened. 
 She went home--I don't know if she picked up the grand daughter first 
or not--and found him in his shack. I guess that if you have to go, 
what better way to do it than doing something that you love.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon. If you need any further info, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
