[Dxbase] My summary window dilemma

Hi Ben,
When computer hardware use to be my bread and butter we use to have a number
of utilities to check hardware including CPUs. Some of these programmes
were provided by the CPU manufacture and small frame computer companies. I
have not been in the hardware race for a number of years but I would be
surprised if AMD or even MSI did not have a utility to exercise hardware.
So I would start there.
Just a heads up, I do remember one computer used for financing at a small
company that would not work with a spread sheet programme. Every test we
ran showed nothing wrong with hardware, but in the end a new CPU did fix the
problem. So utilities are not always the best test, in the end programmes
are.
Two other things to check (swap if possible) memory and power supplies.
When doing heavy number crunching both can take a beating and for sure I
have seen power supplies fail when having to supply the extra watts. Since
our company worked out of a depot we had inventory we could use for testing
so you may also want to work with the dealer and explain you dilemma and
they may be able to sway out components for you.
I know there are a bunch of fellows here keeping up with new computers,
hopefully someone will chime in with other suggestions. But for sure, DXBase
is rock solid and should not be an issue on any healthy machine
