[Dxbase] FT-1000 MP interface nightmare

Hi all,
If anybody knows the FT-1000 MP Mark V computer interface pretty well
inside-out-and-backwards I have a major problem that I don't know
where to turn for assistance.
Essentially, if I any logger (DX Base, N1MM or anything else) sets up
a 40 SSB split with a value below 7100 on VFO-A (even if VFO-B is set
to transmit and is on a legal frequency), the radio will go into TX
mode but will not generate an SSB signal (LSB or USB). It WILL
generate AM (and FM, into my dummy load at QRPp testing levels).
If I remove computer control and shut down and re-start the radio,
and set a split manually, it works fine. If the logger sends a
simplex frequency to VFO-A (above 7100) it works fine. If the logger
sends a split with both halves above 7100 it works fine. Click a spot
below 7100 with a QSX anywhere, no transmit. I suspect this is an
FT-1000 problem, but I really don't know where to turn for
assistance. This has also been posted to the Yahoo group for the
FT-1000 but I generally don't find the braintrust there to be very
knowledgeable above and beyond the basics and "I love my radio" posts, etc.
Any suggestions on what may be causing this, or conversely, any
suggestions on a 'Net resource to solve this? This is a recent
problem, too, maybe in the last 2 or 3 months it's manifested itself.
Last time I seriously needed split on 40 was in WPX in March and it
was fine then.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Peter,
W2IRT
