We should not mix up programs. There are two ways of controlling the radio
or getting proper info about the radio. You can either send specific
commands to the radio, and read the answer from radio. Or, continuously read
what the info that radio automatically send each time a button or switch or
VFO is changed, and store the info that is required for logging. Thereby
you will be able to log split info, VFO A or B and what is the transmit VFO.
I have earlier proposed a change in the radio interface for DXbase,
specifically for Icom radios.

The logging of split frequencies works in the PROIII (and the 7800?) if you
use N4PY's control program: http://www.n4py.com . I don't know how he's
figured out how to do it.

1/ the 7800 in common with all other Icom's won't log Split mode. this
is because Icom have no way for software to tell if Split mode is
enabled or which VFO is used for TX.
