[Dxbase] Refinements...

I run both an AR-Cluster node and a CC Cluster node.
The CC Cluster node offers some filtering options that are not in AR-Cluster 
and it is generally faster.. VE7CC lists the CC Cluster nodes near the top 
of the list in his program. The CC Cluster node software is still in the 
Alpha phase but is running quite reliably.
Make sure when you set options for filtering that you ALWAYS "ask" the 
cluster before you "tell" the cluster. It will prevent a lot of confusion.
The other neat thing that the programs offer is a reconnect capability to 
the cluster node. Many of us take quite seriously the running of a reliable 
node and put a lot of time and effort into accomplishing this. However, DSL 
and cable modem providers are not offering us T1s and they do have 
maintenance windows that interrupt cause our connectivity every now and 
then. The reconnect feature of AR-User (The VE7CC program) keeps you from 
seeing no recent spots when you walk back to the you DXBase telnet window.

Possibly I did not post my earlier reply to the group
What I use is a separate cluster client that talks to DXB via the localhost 
capability of your PC. In DXB you create a host IP of
127.0.0.1 and use the port required by the host client. In my case I use 
the VE7CC AR-Cluster http://www.ve7cc.net/ that allows
configuration of spotters and spots down to the country level and in North 
America, Province and State. In the case of the VE7CC
software he uses port 7300 to pass the spots so when configuring the DXB 
host file you would use 127.0.0.2 for the IP and Port 7300.
In the VE7CC software you select all of the parameters - and there are 
many - and then tell the cluster. Once the cluster knows
your wants by band, mode, spotted DX and the source, it will only send that 
data to you and on to the DXB DX Info window
Works slick and takes some learning but makes for a powerful combination
