[Dxbase] Bug still there????

You are correct in that the telnet interface, for several revisions, 
does not really work the way one would assume based upon the 
configuration screen. Based upon that screen, where you can enter the 
'login prompt', 'user login' etc, one would think that the process would 
wait for the login prompt (for example login:) before sending the user 
call (with a timeout in case it doesn't arrive). However as far as I 
can recall it has never waited, instead it just throws out the call at 
some point irrespective of the prompt. Thus you can substitute XXXXXX: 
in place of login: and it works just the same.
However in spite of this at least from my system it does get signed on 
to my AR-Cluster, and Lee's new CC-Cluster, successfully. I believe it 
also works with DXSpider, but I have not tested this recently. However 
some of the welcome text does get thrown away. Adding lines of '*'s as 
you have done might get more of the welcome text through as you suggest.
In short, it's not working correctly, and probably never has, but it 
does get you signed on.
I have never tested the 'password' option, largely because I don't know 
any clusters using it. If they did it's possible the signon would not 
succeed.
