Hi gang!
I have been providing timely updates on the K5D QSL process on the K5D
WEBSITE. www.k5d.us
Please watch it for all future updates. Go to the "QSL Information" LINK!
Last night, I hit a milestone with the K5D QSL pre-processing.... Let me
explain.
My part of the K5D QSL processing is handling the "pre-processing" which is
to research the log, mark the QSO's as confirmed and set for sequential
label printing, After I do a substantial batch, I then print labels in the
same sequential order as the processing. I hand over the tubs of mail and
the labels to my QSL final processing crew. They take them home and
peal/stick the labels to the cards, stuff and stamp the envelopes and place
them in the mail.
Last night I completed all QSL requests receive through the end of JULY.
This is pre-processing. Within the next several days, I will pass these out
to my QSL final processing team who will start to go to work on them. I
would guess that they should all be out within a few weeks. There is a
little backlog to get through so I ask everyone to be patient. We are almost
to 50,000 QSO's confirmed in the log at this time.
I will continue to pre-process the August and September mail and also work
on the more recent OQRS requests.
Watch the www.k5d.us website for future updates. I will "ANNOUNCE" the time
when I am "current" on that webpage. Please do not email me about your K5D
QSL issues until after I make the announcement that I am ready to take
inquiries. I want to make sure everyone gets their cards!
See ya' in the Pileups!

Subject: [Dx-qsl] DXpeditions, donations and QSL's
Those fellows who are still waiting for a conformation from K5D, the
successful February 2009 DXpedition to Desecheo Island, should send an email
to N2OO inquiring about their cards. Bob and other members of the South
Jersey DX Association have been very busy answering tenths of thousands of
QSL requests. I sent my cards in early March with my donation. At the
Dayton Hamvention, I spoke with Bob and he said it would take them about
five or six weeks to get to my envelope. In early July I got my cards.
By now, the rush must be over and he might be able to give you a time table
regarding pending cards.
Regarding donations, please remember that DXpeditions these days are very,
very expensive. In 1979, we had the first ever DXpedition to Desecheo
(KP4AM/D). Expenses were near 6,000ドル. The Northern California DX
Foundation gave us 3,000ドル (plus spent over 2500ドル in QSL printing). The
balance came from small individual donations plus some of the operators' own
funding. Operators normally pay part of the expenses, but they must not be
required to pay for our pleasure of working them and getting a QSL card.
Good luck with the upcoming three big ones (Glorioso, Midway and Conway)
and don't forget to send your donations.
73,
Dave, W4DN
Ex-KP4AM
