Ahhh, the famous 'm bag'. First 11 pounds are something like 17.60 or so (whether it's 1 ounce or 11 pounds)...then 1.60/pound after that.
The 'break even' between surface parcel post and m bag is typically about 4 pounds or so, depending on country.
But, then, you have to do more 'work'.....customs forms, addresses, etc, which is why many opt for the ARRL service.
Many of the heavy users, such as myself, tend to work together to get a cross somewhere betwen the bulk M bag rate and the ARRL rate. Suffice it to say that you can do it for less than 8 a pound, but it's not without some work on your part.
