Rob,
you are so right!!!!!
Build the best station money can buy, without the support of those HAM's,
who are not really interested in contests, but are giving you the QSO's
on one or more bands in a contest, you can not win; never!
Many well known contester are answering bureau cards, but also many do
not; in the sense of: "Give me your points, move away and do not bother
me with your bureau card afterwards".
Some times ago I have written a long article about this issue and you
can find it on my Web Site; just click there on "QSL Contest QSO's"
(in the left frame, page down).
Recently I have added some information about my experience, which
I have made with the well known and very often heard argument:
"I am not QSL-ing contest QSO's via the bureau, because I am logging
many thousands of contacts each year and I don't want to pay for the
high bureau fees"
