Dear Friends, Happy New Year!
Some questions about old QSOs, made when East Germany had prefixes like Y2,
Y3, Y4, Y5, etc.
1 - What happens if somebody NOW sends QSL cards to these stations through
the DL bureau? Is the DL bureau able to identify the owner of that old
Y2-Y9 callsign and deliver the card (of course I am not asking about
non-members)?
2 - If the cards reach the correct destination, will these cards be good
for credit for DXCC and/or WPX, etc? The reason for this question is: if
somebody moves from the DXCC country where he lives, his DXCC totals and
all of his QSL cards will not be good for the new DXCC country he went to.
I know that this isn't what happened with East Germany (of course they did
not "move", hi) but East Germany now is deleted and those stations now are
in another DXCC entity (DL).
- How did ARRL managed this situation for the Y2-Y9 stations?
- Did they keep all their previous credits (i.e., were these old credits
transfered to their new DL callsign)?
- Can they, nowadays, ask for credit using cards that confirm QSOs with
their old Y2-Y9 callsigns?
