I've been considering trying one for just this reason. I live on a very small lot, but can hide one wire antenna in the trees. From what I've read the off center fed "windom" should be easier to tune by the internal tuner of my '746 for all bands. All bands actually meaning 80 through 20, I have a vertical for 15 & 10 that works well, and yagis for VHF/UHF. Not enough room for top band... Although I have given some thought to an inverted "L".
I once had a 135' center fed dipole, fed with about 50' of 450 ohm ladder line, to a balun and probably 20' of coax to the rig. This worked well on 80, 20, and above. But, the internal tuner had a hard time matching on 40. [sometimes it would find a match, but start "searching" again after a few seconds of key down]
