As is always the case in VHF/UHF FM simplex work, the higher the better!
With 5 watts, you can talk around town with a decent antenna...better to
get a 6FM rig like a Midland LMR or similar off Ebay for say 50 bucks or
so...more power w/ better rcvr (get one with the Noise Blanker option)
