I suggest a 176 ft 40-meter Extended double Zepp. You will get up to 3 dB
broadside gain on 40 and gain over a dipole on all higher bands. The
antenna can be tuned from 160 - 10 meters. Droop the ends a little, but the
length is not all that critical. 170 ft will work just fine.
A "resonant" dipole can give problems in tuning since the feedline
impedance varies over a wider range than that of a non-resonant antenna
such as the 40 EDZ.The EDZ is also less critical of ladderline length for
the same reason.
