Hello to all supporters of this module.

I have begun the development cycle for the next release of the relativity module, version 3.x.

I hope to have an alpha for review by November 1st.

Until then, your thoughts and ideas are welcome. I've taken what has already been suggested into consideration (forum discussion) and started writing a handbook to highlight the plan of action for the module.

Anything else you care to add, you may do so here.

Thank you!

subscribe. I'm going to test out 6.1 first though, and base my thoughts on that.

Subscribing too. Any updates on when there might be a usable version (at least without a warning in the release notes ;)? I'd really like to use either this module or node2node, but it looks like both are kind of unstable right now ...

Any update on the status of this would be much appreciated. Is it possible to give a rough idea of when, realistically, a working version could be available? Before Christmas?

I want to confirm comment #12; I am unable to access the module settings via the drupal "administer modules" page. I would really love to see this module for drupal 6x, the previous documentation suggests that the Node Relativity module is exactly what I need. subscribing

Hi All,

It's been a crazy few months since my last Node Relativity development inauguration. I know everyone has been waiting on baited breath for it.

Over the holidays, we should be ready to bring out our first beta.

Since Views 2.x came out, and reviewing the coding for it, I've come to be influenced by the thoughtful approach to API development. So, in the up coming release, we'll see a drastically new and revised model for how NR will work.

I look forward to sharing the module with you all.

Thank you for being patient!

Thanks for the update Wilco. This module will definitely make a wonderful Christmas present! Also, if you have a spare chance after releasing the beta, I'd be interested to hear more about your new "thoughtful approach" to API development, though maybe the changes will be apparent in your coding.

Subscribing. I'm working on migrating my Drupal sites to v6, and all my sites depend heavily on Node Relativity. If there's anything I can do to help, I'd be happy to give a hand.

Looks like your last commit updated files that have conflict syntax. It totally screwed up the checkout for anyone getting the latest code.

I would be happy to lend a hand also.

Hi Everyone,

My time has been heavily reduced in the last few months due to an explosion of work. I am utterly grateful for everyone willing to offer help. Any and all who are willing to lend a hand, please forward an email to me and I shall start putting a team together to roll out the next edition of the module.

In the meantime, as people are trying to use the Dev edition of this module, I shall remove it from the queue. It is not in any way shape or form ready for use.

Thank you.

Just sharing the info here in case anyone interested.

Couldn't wait for node relativity to be ready. We've opted to change from node relativity to node reference + Node Reference URL Widget, with node reference being in CCK, it should be an easier upgrade path.

I have demographic information on each module and I would love to work with this module so that I can write it once and have it be added to a number of modules.

i also like how I can choose children of a node type without all possible children for a node being displayed.

I will test away

Will it be possible to create relations "on the same level" (so no child/parent relation) or equivalence relations?

Example:
"[Peter] looks like [John]"
is the same as "[John] looks like [Peter]".

It should not matter, which node initiated the relation. They should be themed the very same way:

on Peter node:
- looks like [John]

on John node:
- looks like [Peter]

I would love to know if progress is being made on this module.

I am looking for a module that allows a user without editing rights on a node to attach children to it. There are many modules available, that deal with node relationships, but none (as far as I see) that allow a non-author to link nodes on Drupal 6:

Maybe the Rules module could be the solution to this problem, but as far as I know, only CCK from the list above provides integration with Rules.

CCK node reference + comment cck (allows commenters to change cck), or editable fields.

jjalocha’s picture

jjalocha commented

Wow, I will check this out! Node reference isn't probably quite as sophisticated as any of the "hardcore" relationship modules, but this should at least give me the needed functionality in a reliable way.
Right now, i am reviewing the Relativity patch, and it seem to need quite a lot of work, yet.
Thank you very much!
Cheers, Jerzy

Subscribing - The original D6 version works but it would be nice to be able to change the "child" & "parent" labels on a per "content type" basis perhaps with token support.

Very interested. How do you control the node creation order, did you use Pageroute or something else ?

Anyone looking for a simple, one-level, robust parent-child relationship between different content types could also take a look at Organic Groups. Simply set the parent content type as the OG, and any other nodes can be assigned to it.
