GET TO DA CHOPPA!
Friday and on into Saturday morning I tried to make Ambush Alleys' Force on Force work for an Ahnold inspired PREDATOR game.
Well, yes it does work. But by the end of the process and I'm nowhere near the end, it becomes like 'Cromwell's knife' - "we've had the blade changed of course and the handle has been changed twice, but it's the knife Cromwell used".
As a one off event, I had fun making up new rules and character cards and am left with sheafs of pencilled notes. Will I play it again - no.
And why? Because, Joe dropped me a link via email to a free (yes FREE) download and print game called, and I'm not making this up; GET TO THE CHOPPER!!!
Go to the page on the link above, zip down to the FILES section and download everything there. The downloads include paper figures to get you started but it's the perfect opportunity to buy a Predator figure from Jon at Khurasan and the 'Special Forces' character figures from Mike at The Scene, all you need is SF01,02,03 if you are short on spoolacksor just want to try it out with a few minis.
Go on download it now! It's a blast and will make you a god damned sexual Tyrannosaurus!
Cheers

Predator Night
Well, it's Get To Da Choppa central in the Dropship Rec Room tonight. Eli had a great idea earlier in the week of a Weird WW2 Operation Seelowe with German Zombies taking on the Home Guard.
But where the hell are my Nazi Zombies? Grrrr! So, it's a good opportunity to try out Ambush Royale in a Predator setting and create the rules as the game progresses and ideas flow.....
.....Whoo-oo-oo-oo, baby. Havin' me some fun tonght.
Cheers
Mark p.s. got to get me another Predator or two.....
See follow up post GET TO DA CHOPPA!

Gonna Have Me Some Fun Tonight!
.
It's no secret that Heather and I are big aficianados of the classic 1987 PREDATOR movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura and Sonny Landham. So, to celebrate the imminent release of a 15mm "slackjawed" Special Forces team (SF01-SF07) from The Scene, Dropship Horizon is proud to sponsor a PREDATOR inspired give away!
To have a chance to win the first set of these new minis fromThe Scene, all you have to do to demonstrate your Predator Mojo is leave a message below, that:
You get more brownie points for answering in the true spirit of this competition!1) identifies SIX animals mentioned by the characters in the film.2) correctly identifies the order in which they are mentioned.
Without doubt, Blain played by Jesse Ventura gets the best lines and in our minds is the most enduring character in the movie. To win the second set of these Special Forces miniatures all you have to do is create:
3) a quote in the style of a typical "Blainism", eg "They're shooting straighter than a Saratoga snake".The "Blainism" Heather judges the best, wins.
The competition is open until Mike puts the figures up on the webshop. Entries made anonymously without a name included in the entry are disqualified for obvious practical reasons, "I'm Brian, and so's my wife!". We're looking forward to seeing your entries - Have fun & best of luck!
Cheers

INCOMING......15mm "Goddamn Sexual Tyrannosauruses"
.
As you know we are big fans of the original PREDATOR movie. Here's a Predator inspired game played back in April, earlier this year. And yes, whilst we played , the air was full of our best gutteral Arnie impersonations reliving classic lines from the movie, "Billy!"..."I wouldn't wish that on a Broke-dick dog!"......"Get to da Choppa!".....So you can imagine my delight, that Mike at The Scene is on the verge of releasing a bunch of 15mm "god damned sexual Tyrannosaurus(es)"......
The Scene UK, 15mm Sci Fi Special Forces
SF01 to SF03
The Scene UK, 15mm Sci Fi Special Forces
SF04 to SF07
And you'll never guess the symmetry, I made an open appeal to 15mm Sci Fi manufacturers for characters like these, suitable as proxies for the movie, back on 14th November last year (link)!
So, to celebrate the release of these minis plus 30,000+ pageviews in the last 30 days, I'm going to give away two complete sets of 15mm Special Forces from The Scene during the course of this week. Stay tuned for more intel on how to win 'Dutch' and the team.

Friday night is now Firefight Friday in the Dropship Horizon rec.room. What better way to kick offthan a homage to one of my favourite Sci Fi films - PREDATOR.
Billy: "There's something out there waiting for us,
and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die...."

na nah, na na nanah!

Heavily converted 15mm Peter Pig AK47 and Nam Aussie SAS troopers play 'Belgie' and the boys in a Mutants And Death Ray Guns firefight to the death!
A fun, satisfying but not too serious game, with bags of laughs and lot's of quoting from the movie - "BILLY!", "DUG IN DEEPER THAN AN ALABAMA TICK", "GET TO DA CHOPPA", "HAWA HA HA HAA!"
Cheers

Get To Da Choppa!
.
My WIP interpretation of 'Dutch', A relatively simple headswop with a GZG Separate Head (SG15-SH1) grafted onto a Peter Pig AK47 range Modern US Marine.
It's almost midnight so I'm calling it quits. I'm pleased with how he's turning out - tomorrow, I'll finish the eyes, do the face camo, boots and base details.
Cheers
