Free Patrol Angis scenario: Knight to Remember

"It was the League of Canlaster that made the first moves of the civil war. Taking the five million men of the Gulaine Company of the Prydian Army, which had declared for Bluefort en masse, they forced those loyal to Yordan out of twelve systems including the Kendal system. Meanwhile the priority attack by a Yordan allied fleet upon the emerald green resource world of Dando II took the garrisons there by complete surprise. Two worlds were plunged into battles among those who were once brothers. Although fabricators furiously worked to place the crests and livery of their baronial masters on their armour most still fought in the white and red of the Prydian Army.” - 4320IC. From Patrol Angis

A treat for Ion Age fans and players of Patrol Angis (in 15mm or using the 28mm Ion Age range as more are doing) today with a free small scenario pitting battlesuits against each other at the start of the Prydian Civil War.

Knight to Remember: A two page small scenario for two players or solo play in which a lance of Prydian Duxis Battlesuits are taken by surprise on Geolu Prime by two platoons of now Canlastrian Havelock Battlesuits. Can they escape the trap? Download from our online storage by CLICKING HERE. Visit the website for an entire page full of folder download links of Ion Age resources HERE.

You need only Patrol Angis the core game book for this scenario and we wish you good fun with the scenario. You can see the 15mm Ion Age Range on the website and look for codes IAF030 and IAF020 for these piloted suits.

Check out the Patrol Angis game pack for the book, two lances of Retained Knights, Portable Weapon Platform and Duxis Battlesuits plus all needed bases and a unique to the pack Knight Errant miniature all with a saving built in. An ideal jump in point for the game. See it HERE.

The Ion Age - IMP44 Malig Egg Thief Space Goblin free for all April 2017

“The Shia Khan Empire in its conquest of Camarthen Prime began with little in the way of heavy armour and vehicles and instead focused it seems upon bringing through the Matter Gateway as many Legionaries as possible. As many troops as they could. This tactic made sense in the light that we thought the Belkan Depression without life and the threat gone due to the detonation of the fusion reactor in the midst of the labyrinth. While we were trying,in shock, to come to terms with the alien threat we assumed was now halted it was instead the case that under the ground the gateway continued to vomit forth more and more enemies so near to us yet unseen. When the Khanate broke through to the surface and brought the battle to us once more they had a great mass of infantry of their client races and a some fast vehicles for reconnaissance. Foremost among these were the Canthus bikes and the vicious Skrak Terror Birds. This large animal is a creature of bile and hate that seems to have a natural affinity with Maligs. Capable of running on its two legs at high speed it can cover a large area quickly and its long curved beak can easily snip the head from a knight in powered armour. We have no idea what the Goblins call these birds as the Skrak is our own name for them due to the distinctive and unpleasant noise they make. Capable of carrying a Goblin rider they have all been observed with Saurad riders as well. Tough and hard to put down the Skrak cavalry are a threat to Planetary Militia caught out in the open without support. Thus far no terror bird has been taken alive for study and observation has concluded for certain that the bird is not only cannibalistic but also eats its rider it given a chance. There are Maligs whose task it is to take the clutches of eggs laid by the Skraks from their nests to a separate hatchery for some 'training' upon hatching. This is a role which even the Goblins try to avoid..."

April is here and I pity the fool that thinks its not going to be a great month! We have new releases plus the Salute Season and a new monthly offer as well as the pre-orders on that book which you have all been hearing about too. It all starts here with the new monthly free miniature. IonFans who have missed out on posts in March should check out the First Look at Pages and Offers on the coming Return of the Khanate book as well as the excellent Khanate Portable Weapons which came out last month plus the tale of Caracan the Strider too. We will have some vicious birds plus their handlers for you in April. All of this to come and we will feature it on the blog and across the sphere of the infoverse. Now onto the news for the start of the month. A new free monthly and an exotic one at that....it makes me eggstatic to present IMP44.

The Ion Age is not only a Human place...it has aliens a plenty. This month that comes to the fore but not in the way you think with a humorous miniature that will not only look unique in your collection but be oddly useful with our new releases in April. This month we present IMP44 Malig Egg Thief who will go right into your space goblin Ordos.

We welcome the 44th free monthly 15mm miniature and month of our little space opera setting. Free in every order every time all month before being retired. This miniature is automatically put into every order at the rate of one per order regardless of order value. It can also be bought in any amount on the monthly IMP page of the website for this month only too before being withdrawn on the first of next month. We are into Year Four now and if you missed it you can see the Year Three Collection on the website. Standing 12mm to the eye line the Malig Egg Thief labours under the weight of a Skrak Terror Bird egg that he has 'liberated' and is heading for any giant frying pan he can find (perhaps Senga can lend him one). Dressed in typical Malig fashion it is a unique 15mm miniature. There is a growing page on the Ion Age website where the current and all former IMP series free miniatures are shown so that you can see what came before. Enjoy looking at what came before. This miniature is worth 0.60GBP.

We ask you to sign up for a website account with us on your first order. Why? For one reason only. Not to send you emails (we never will. If you want our emails sign up for our Mailchimp list on the right top of the blog home page) or to pester you; but only to keep track of the Reward Points that all orders with us earn. Reward Points through our online partner Sloyalty which can be used once accumulated to get discounts or free stuff at any point in the future. Learn more about this HERE. Every order earns Reward Points! Yes free extra value. Part of our promise to keep the fun in wargaming.

Lastly we have a new month long special offer...its a space goblin one with 25% off the original 15mm space goblins AIAF002 The Maligs. Providing a great core of infantry poses to your Khanate platoons of verminous Maligs this pack is excellent. The discount is online and all you need do is add to cart, reward points are as normal and can be used on this offer too. Offer ends 1st May. Click on the link to learn more.

As always if you are reading this bulletin later in the month or further into the future please do have a look at our blog and use it as a time machine to read all the excellent content that is there going right back to our start. Try April 2014 for instance where you can find a the beginning of our expansion of the space goblins with the Malig Ordos platoon pack (33 different poses!) and the now firm favourite the mad cap Infernus Ball Tank. Here is our 2014 convention flyer showing them.

Thanks for your support and for enjoying The Ion Age!

All the fantasy, historical, science fiction and publications for 15mm scale are all now at home in the 'Our 15mm Ranges' list on our home page. As a result we wish to reward this kindness and to celebrate the merger and so we have a Free WorldWide Shipping event (orders over 12GBP product value) now online which will end at 9am GMT Tuesday 21st February (we know we said Monday but this is to account for the time difference around the world). Go HERE and have a look or read on for more.

We now have a vast array of 28mm and 15mm lines to offer you from Flintloque to 28mm High Fantasy to Mythological and unique like Grinning Skull and Ganesha Games as well as 15mm in the forms of many historical periods and fantasy plus science fiction and Laserburn. Our pricing is excellent and during this promotion all you need to do is add to your cart and as long as your product total is more than 12.00GBP then postage is free worldwide. This is automatic. This is standard airmail and domestic postage and if you wish to add a 'signed for' option this remains at 10.00GBP flat charge. Go HERE.

Get yourself some campaign supplies for the early spring in 15mm and 28mm scale!

Additionally our sister website The Ion Age is also running this promotion with free postage on all orders over 12.00GBP so visit them if you love space opera wargaming and have a browse. If you wish to combine orders from Alternative Armies and The Ion Age by email then contact us on sales@alternative-armies.com letting us know who and where you are plus your code list and we will sort you out. Any emails which arrive before 9am GMT Tuesday 21st will qualify for the offer even if it takes a little longer to get the order processed and in place.

We will be shipping out orders all the way through this excellent weekend offer and then beyond it. We will then return to a new normal with our regular releases for many lines including Flintloque, Fantasy Monsters, HOT 15mm Fantasy, Sengoku and more.

IMP39 Grim Reaperbot free for all November 2016!

Welcome to the spooky month at The Ion Age and this is also the month of...shudder...scream...Black Friday Weekend...so it is an epic month to get with us in 15mm space opera wargaming. November is here and that means a new free monthly special miniature. Ladies and Ghouls I present to you the Grim Reaperbot!

“Happy Burger does not often put a foot wrong when it comes to marketing their food. Well, there was that incident with the rocket powered skates on the drive through dinastations but that was a...fairly...isolated incident. However they did put both feet and indeed their legs in the wrong place with the Grim Reaperbot campaign. It was a nice idea. I mean who does not love having a custom bot cut the top from a promotional Happy Burger meat tube held by the customer with the chance to win a prize in the process. Sadly the titanium scythes the Reaperbots were fitted with were a bit long for the job and often they overshot the tube held up by the customer. More than fifty thousand dead in one morning across the Precinct. So many lawsuits and then quickly hiding the bots. After the Gurtan Activation the bots were taken out of mothball and scrapped but some were never put in storage and had simply wandered off into the cities. Shame...it was a real tasty meat tube that year.”

USEME Solo Play Campaign Setting and Rules

Free download by Vic Dobson

Last week the entire USEME series of wargame titles was released as digital downloads. At just 3.00GBP each these twelve titles cover science fiction, fantasy and historical wargaming along with other settings too. You can see all of these on the 15mm.co.uk website HERE if you missed that. We are delighted now to present to you for free an entire campaign setting based on the HOF 15mm Science Fiction range written by Vic Dobson which also includes solo play rules. Read on for the download link and more.

To download the campaign setting in a zipped file from our Dropbox click HERE.

You will need UM001 USEME 15mm Science Fiction to make use of this campaign setting and we also recommend UM010 USEME Support Pack too for your games. If you want to fight actions in space around the planets then you might like UM006 USEME Starship Battles as well. Super fast, really easy and great fun!

Written by Vic Dobson who has created other USEME articles (click here to search our blog for USEME to find them HERE) this solo play campaign is a great way to plan out your table top battles across several weeks. I think a campaign of four player sides with two dozen games would take about six weeks with several games of half an hour or so each session. Enjoy!

There are many free files for all of the USEME titles and these are collected on its page of our website where you can download the latest version for free.

Thanks for Reading and well done Vic!
