  • You can configure the quality (or more precisely the maximum video resolution) that is used by youtube-dl in MPC-HC settings (Options > Advanced > YDLMaxHeight). For example 1080 for FullHD video. We recommend a value of 1440 or lower, because higher resolutions usually do not play smoothly.

  • Hardware acceleration is now enabled by default on systems where the primary GPU supports HEVC video. You can adjust these settings if desired, like with all settings in the codec pack. It is currently only enabled by default on compatible Intel and Nvidia systems. For AMD systems this will be done in a future version when their drivers are more reliable. It is also not enabled by default on systems that provide only hybrid acceleration. But you can of course enable it manually during (or after) installation. In previous versions of the codec pack hardware acceleration was always disabled by default. So for most users, nothing changes.
