Actually Apple did make PReP systems, briefly. The ANS (Apple Network Server) was just that. I believe they even shipped with AIX. It certainly was an unusual beast for Apple to make.
I allways thought it was odd that apple was in on the spec, and provided docs for it, but never seemingly produced one. However, I imagine that machine is rare enough that I will never see one.
